I know deep down, you know you could write the book on fitness and nutrition. But we’re funny creatures, sometimes when we don’t want to face the actual problem that we may have, we tend to focus on other stuff, and complicate other areas of your life.
Hence the huge snowball of the weight loss industry, promising that the next big diet, or shake or fad, will be the answer to all your problems. The paleo, the 5:2, weight watchers, slimming world, it blows my mind all the stuff that’s out there to help women lose weight.
Deep down you know that you’ve a bad relationship with food. You’re turning to food in times of stress or comfort, or because you’re lonely. You sit on the couch late at night eating, you drink too much wine, you leave long gaps between meals because you’re working too hard. There’s a specific reason you’re not fitting into your clothes, and it’s not because you haven’t found a diet that works. You’re eating too much or exercising too little, and you’re not focused on what the real problem is. Instead, you obsess about food.
Three things you need to do consistently to fit great into your clothes.
Interval training and resistance training. The most effective type of training to boost your mood, reduce stress, feel good, and get results. Interval training burns fat better than any other type of training, it also has the highest release of dopamine, feel good hormones, that will leave you feeling amazing.
Don’t weigh things, or measure things, don’t count points, just eat healthy. Have 3 meals and 2 snacks every day. That’ll keep you eating every 3-4 hours. Eat what you know to be healthy. Have a healthy breakfast, healthy lunch, healthy dinner and two small snacks between meals.
Sleep and drink water.
Aim to get 8 hours of sleep every night. Get to bed by 10:30pm latest. Drink two litres of water every day. You need it for your mood, your brain, to function properly. You need it to keep hunger at bay, and for your body not to confuse thirst for hunger.
Repeat every week. Know that it’s normal to want to quit, know that it’s normal to fail. Success and failure go hand in hand. When you feel like quitting, keep on going. It’s a temporary feeling. When you fall off track, get right back on it. It’s not a sign that you’ve failed, it’s a sign that your human.
