Focus Only On What You CAN Control

Focus on what you can control

As we get more into Winter, and the debates ramp up on the news about all the different restriction levels, it’s time to dig deep and find certainty in your daily habits.


As more and more people feel anxious and stressed out like never before, you can focus on all the things you can control, like your workouts, the food you eat, and how you relax.


By focusing on these things, you add anchors to your day. These anchors keep you grounded and feeling certain. If you focus on getting a workout in every day, drinking two litres of water and getting a walk in, you'll have three wins every day that will make you feel so good.   

Interval training (the workouts you do with me) have a huge endorphin release, which leave you feeling capable, in control and feeling really good.


Print out a calendar for the month, add in your workouts and your walks, and everything else has to fit around them. These are your non-negotiables. That means you don’t drop them for anything. They’re your anchors that keep everything ticking along nicely, including your mood and your mental health. Regardless of your mood, you get them done, to take care of you, which in turn is taking care of everyone else.


There’s absolutely nothing we can do about what’s happening around us, but we can find beauty and happiness every day if we choose to, and learn how to handle our stress. Having had a complete breakdown in my twenties, to the most horrific year in 2015, I’ve learned that nothing is worth stressing out about to any serious level, when there’s nothing you can do about it.

Learn how to let go of things you’ve no control over, and laugh more than you think you should. Let yourself off the hook, it’s OK not to take things too seriously.


Nothing bad is going to happen if you take the foot of the pedal every so slightly, and slow down a small bit. If things aren’t going as planned, that’s OK, they will come back around over time. You’ve one life, one 2020, you’re only going to be as young as you are right now. THIS IS IT. Laugh more, stress less, and soak up nature and the beauty around you.

Success is all about the struggles you overcome and the commitment to keep on going even when things really feel so tough. If you are struggling, that is OK!

To succeed you have to go through the struggles as they make you stronger! Unhealthy people quit when things get tough, healthy people keep on going regardless.

Helen has recently gone from strength to strength, after a period when she was finding things tough.

Helen has been struggling with her attendance for a while, and also the food and reducing carbs.

She tackled the attendance first and has now been consistently hitting 4-5 sessions per week now.

She recently has focused more on her food, reducing carbs in the evening and being more mindful of what she is eating.

Helen has hit her September MEPS already and has noticed her waist is getting thinner and she feels just great, ''especially after the sessions, I love how that makes me feel''

Susan has been going from strength to strength.

From really not wanting to go online, and very unsure, to 4 workouts per week, great MEPS, weight loss, feeling great, off the sugar.. all round doing mighty!

Ladies let's show her some love!!! And remember it's the stuff we overcome that gets us to the good stuff!

As you all know it is not easy in the midst of a pandemic but you are all crushing it and working on it! Yes we have ups and downs but we are always moving forward and celebrating our WINS!!!!!!!

If you've any questions for Susan, I'm sure she is happy to share!

Here's Susan in her own words:

"My weight has always being an issue with me and it was always easier to buy clothes the next size up. I'd be breathless when I'd get to the top of the stairs. It was easier to eat crap food and wonder how to lose the weight. That definitely was a no brainer.

I'm not one for online classes. I need someone to shout at me to tell me what to do so in August when Inspire Fitness was going on line I thought ''no way''.

Am I glad I stuck with it. I do 4 sessions every week in the evening time. I quit the sugar, tea and coffee. I feel so much fitter and am getting stronger. I have a routine now . I eat well and drink plenty of water. I definitely feel it in my clothes.

Thank you Jessica."

Outdoor Session: Renville Park

Monthly Workout Meetup in Renville

Socially Distanced Outdoor Session

We had a socially distanced outdoor session in Renville Park and it was great fun. Our tribe did great! Pushing themselves hard all throughout the session, and they had a well deserved hot blackcurrent after. It was a lovely day and again we were so blessed with the weather. Our Monthly Meet Ups take place on the last Saturday of the month, and if its a bank holiday, we meet up the Saturday before that. Keep the dates free in your diary, they’re such a great way to put a face to the name and meet all of your tribe.

We had a great morning out hiking Knockma. The sun was shining and we had great fun.

5 Minute Core Workout

This 5 minute core workout is perfect to add on to the end of any session when you specifically want to work on your core.

Recipe of the Month: Oatmeal, Spelt  & Honey Scones.

These were delicious! 

Oatmeal, Spelt  & Honey Scones

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (280 g /10 oz) wholemeal spelt flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 100 g (3 ½ oz) butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey or maple
  • ½ cup (125 ml / 4 ½ fl oz) your choice of milk (dairy, nut, oat or rice)
  • 120 g (1 cup / 4 ½ oz)  raisins
  • 1 cup (100 g / 3 ½ oz) rolled oats

Method:

Preheat your oven to 200°C / 400°F . Combine spelt flour, baking powder and cinnamon. Rub in the butter gently using your fingertips. Add the dried fruit.

Combine milk,  honey and vanilla separately, then pour into the dry ingredients. Mix lightly to form a soft sticky dough. 

Sprinkle half the oats onto a working surface and place over the soft dough. Flatten down slightly then sprinkle the rest of the oats on top.Gently press down until the scone dough is about 2.5 cm thick or about 1 inch. Cut into rounds with a cutter or squares with a sharp knife.

Place onto a lined baking tray. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden
